Competition Rules by Section

SECTION 1: LIRICO-DRAMATIC DUO

The combined age of the duo members must not exceed 75 years (as of September 1, 2025).

STAGE I (max. 15-20 min)

  • A classic German lied (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven)
  • A romantic Lied (Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Strauss)
  •  Required piece: Gh. Dima – „A venit un lup din crâng” (sheet music available upon request)

SEMIFINAL (max. 20-35 min)

  • An opera aria (bel canto italian)
  • A song cycle or a group of songs from a song cycle

FINAL (max. 25-45 min)

  • A song from a musical
  • G. Enescu - Two contrasting lieder From a cyclel "7 Songs on Poems by Clement Marot"
  • A selection of lieder at the candidates' free choice

Important:

  • The repertoire cannot be repeated in different stages.
  • The lieder can be sung with the score, but must be performed in the original language.
  • The arias must be sung from memory.

SECTION 2: PIANO DUO (4 hands and 2 pianos)

Condiție de vârstă: The combined age of the duo members must not exceed 75 years (as of September 1, 2025).

STAGE I (max. 25-30 min)

  • G. Enescu – Variations for 2 Pianos Op. 5 (lucrare impusă)
  • A classical work (in full or parts of a classical work) for piano four hands

SEMIFINAL (max. 30-40 min)

  • Works for piano four hands and two pianos (with a balanced proportion between the two duo genres), including at least one romantic piece.

Note: Since the repertoire is at the candidates’ free choice, it is preferable that it includes works from different periods and countries.

FINAL (max. 35-45 min)

  • Compulsory piece: Leopold Kozeluch – Concerto for Piano Four Hands and Orchestra - p II / Adagio -p III / Rondo Allegretto
  • A concerto for two pianos and orchestra from the universal repertoire, from the following:
    • W.A. Mozart, F. Poulenc, M. Bruch – op.88 a (în la bemol minor)
    • F. Mendelssohn ( în mi major / la bemol major)

Important: The repertoire can be performed with the score in all stages.

SECȚIUNEA DUO HOBBY (amateurs)

Nu exista limita de varsta.

Sunt considerați amatori, concurenții care nu sunt înscriși într-o formă de învățământ musical superior acreditat sau nu au absolvit o astfel de formă de învățământ. 

La sectiunea hobby poate participa orice duo instrumental sau vocal cu pian.

Nu este considerat ansamblu de amator, duo-ul în care unul din membri este profesionist.

REPERTOIRE:

Duration: max. 10 – 20 minutes

Two works in different styles or a selection of works, at the candidates' free choice.
